Personal Information

I grew up around water. Raised in Poulsbo, Washington, my love affair with "big" water began early. Childhood memories include fishing for perch off a local pier, crossing Puget Sound in a 14-foot boat with my family to camp on Blake Island, and digging for clams at Agate Passage. I built my first boat with plans from a book-at age 14.

In fact, saltwater has always been a short trip from home-except after graduation from The University of Washington. Few jobs for electrical engineers existed in the Seattle area in 1970 so I combined my musical and technical backgrounds and joined a high-end sound system manufacturer.  As a technical sales rep, I zigzagged across the U.S for five years skiing, snorkling or visiting museums as my free time and the destination allowed.

After that short stint away from the Northwest, I returned and worked in the local high-tech industry for over 25 years where I managed and/or marketed products and practiced mediation and negotiation skills.

Now my wife and I live where every day feels like a walk in the park. We left a hectic corporate life in the Greater Seattle area in 1999 to move to a home we helped design and build on Hood Canal near Port Ludlow. Owning waterfront property gives me ongoing experience with the issues unique to waterfront like bank stability, setbacks, and erosion protection.

In my spare time, when I'm not sailing, I'm running or playing my trombone in the Peninsula Trombone Choir or the Husky Alumni Band.

I've also had a lifelong interest in real estate. Beginning at age 24, I have bought, personally upgraded, rented and sold several houses over the years. As a former widower raising three girls, I know what makes a kitchen efficient and why "the more bathrooms, the better."
