Recently I've been acting as research assistant for my wife's latest writing project and came across an interesting web site, HistoryLink.org. It calls itself "The Free Encyclopedia of Washington State History." It is a wide-ranging collection of information where you can find the dates for specific events in Washington, read biographies of historical figures and essays about local towns and industries, and view historical photos.
As an example, one timeline entry reads:
"Washington Territorial Legislature creates Slaughter County (becomes Kitsap) out of King County on January 16, 1857."
